Hollywood Connection Virtual Event will include five classes in different styles, performances by the HC Faculty and a few surprises too!  Stay strong and dance with us virtually!  We are in this together.

  • Registration opens November 18th.
  • Registrations are non-refundable.
  • Online registration is closed 24 hours prior to the event.
  • Once payment is received, dancers will be emailed a receipt, confirmation and welcome letter that includes user name and password to access the event.
  • One user name and password per person allowed. Multiple persons will not be allowed to access the event under the same user name and password.
  • ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST SIGN A RELEASE FORM.  Click here for the online release form.

CATEGORIES
Jazz– Jazz technique to up tempo music.
Tap- Tap Technique which may include rhythm tap (hoofing) or Broadway tap. May also be performed acapella
Ballet– Ballet or Pointe technique which may include classical, modern/neoclassical ballet styles.
Lyrical– A combination of Jazz and Ballet techniques, to slow music, with an emotional interpretation of the song lyrics.
Contemporary– Modern dance that may include Graham, Horton, Cunningham techniques and/or improvisation.
Hip Hop– Hip-hop technique which may include breaking, popping, locking, krumping.
Musical Theater– Broadway style with a strong emphasis on character development and storytelling. May or may not include lip syncing.
Open– Can include but is not limited to cultural dance, acrobatic, cirque, ballroom. If a routine has more than three tumbling passes, enter it in open.
Any solo that does not fit into one of the standard categories should be entered in the Open Category.
Contemporary should NOT be listed in Open Category.

The average score/pts determines the virtual medal.  The top three scores in each age division and category will receive 1st, 2nd and 3rd virtual placement. If there are less than two entries in a category, entry will compete against the point system to determine placement.  If the routine is competing against the point system, placement is as follows…
Titanium/Platinum/Gold medal receives 1st Place.  Silver medal receives 2nd Place.  Bronze medal receives 3rd Place
VIRTUAL AWARDS
Each solo will be critiqued and scored by three judges.  Audio critiques and results will be available after the event.  Results will be digital. Each solo will be scored based on technique, showmanship, choreography and costume.  There will be no deductions for masks. There will be no deductions if routine is filmed in studio or home. Videos must be horizontal format.  720p maximum.  MP4 is preferred file type.  Solos must be uploaded into your registration account by December 1st.
ALL STYLE SOLO THROWDOWN
The Top 5 solos from each age division will be automatically entered in the “All Style Solo Throwdown”. These routines will go head to head to determine the THROWDOWN CHAMPION. All finalists will be posted on our social media and receive a $50 scholarship for the 2021 season. Winner receives yearlong scholarship to any two day regional event during the 2021 Season!
