Dance Convention & Competition Information

Hollywood Connection Dance Convention and Competition Detroit/Troy attracts some of the best dance studios in the region.  We specialize in personal attention and going the extra mile for our students and studio owners.  No Ego. Just Dance.  The way it should be.

Levels of Competition

We offer two nights of competition on both Friday and Saturday, with four age divisions for competition. Our staff are friendly and encouraging backstage! Our competition is during reasonable hours of the day.  You dancer will not have a solo at 7am.  Our competition runs on time! Age groups include Superstars (Minis) 7-8.99 years of age, Co Stars (Juniors) 9-10.99 years of age, Guest Stars (Teens) 11-13.99 years of age and Producers (Seniors) 14yrs of age and up.

Styles of Dance Classes

We offer two days of classes in jazz, lyrical, contemporary jazz, contemporary lyrical, jazz funk, hip hop, musical theater, and “dancing in heels” classes.  We limit our class size so dancers have room to dance full out!  We call dancers by names, not numbers, so we can make the experience more personal.  We engage with students and provide a safe place to take risks and be emotionally connected to their dancing!  Bill Bohl, owner of The Movement Talent Agency, offers personal feedback and strategies during the audition process, which provides the dancer with a more personal experience and learning environment.

Studio Owner Business Seminars

Connect with like minded studio owners and teachers, who share your love of dance, your passion for teaching, and your struggles too!  Our seminars were created to rejuvenate your spirit for dance education, give you a fresh approach on business practices and inspire the mind, body and heart.  Our guest speakers specialize in Dance Studio Business Ownership and create an environment where everyone feels relaxed. Topics may include creating a studio culture, building enrollment and increasing revenue, management and policies, social media marketing, recital themes, and more.  Registered teachers and their staff will be treated to a catered breakfast on Saturday and catered lunch on Sunday!

Broadway Babies One-Day Workshop

For dancers 5-6 years of age, this is a great workshop to introduce dancers to the convention experience. Workshop will consist of different styles of dance which may include jazz, tap, hip hop, ballet or lyrical all with a musical theater theme! Workshop will be Saturday sometime between the hours of 12pm-3pm. Times subject to change in each city. Dancers will perform their routines on stage Saturday prior to the start of competition. Each dancer receives a certificate of completion. Each dancer receives one free observer pass with their paid registration. BROADWAY BABIES is limited enrollment and in select cities only. First come first serve. Call our office if you are interested.

Awards & Scholarships

We offer a variety of convention scholarships including qualification to our exclusive title competition, ICON OF THE YEAR at our nationals finals.  We also offer professional opportunities including qualification to audition for The Movement Talent Agency, The Los Angeles Laker Girls and more.

Dance Agent In Every City

Bill Bohl, owner of The Movement Talent Agency and DDO Artists Agency, represents dancers for TV, film, music videos, live stage, tours and Broadway.  In every city, Bill will qualify dancers to audition for his agency at our nationals finals.
